No surprise that my Bride would choose the topic of Servant Heart for our first blog article. When it comes down to it, I truly don't think that I know anyone with a kinder heart or someone more willing to do what it takes to help someone else.
This is not to say that we never have our disagreements or sometimes make each other feel that the other is not on the same side, but when it all boils down, Deana is absolutely the kindest person I know. I know that if I need her, I can count on her, no doubt whatsoever!
I believe that if you apply, what I consider the cornerstone of personal development which is gratitude, to as many aspects of your life then you will have little choice but to excercise your Servant Heart. No shock that your servant heart needs to be excercised, just like your heart that is your life organ. Without either of them you will be in trouble.
As a recent amputee, this year, I have been faced with the decisions or choices if you will of either getting down on myself and think that life as I new it was over or choosing to get up, be grateful that the loss of my leg was the only thing that happened and start getting my life back to normal.
I chose to be grateful that the only loss I had was my leg. I started the process of healing and re-building.
Having the mindset of gratitude I was able to start giving back to others with a true servant heart. When I was new out of Surgery, my surgeon came by to see how I was coping and I said Thank you. His response was incredible: He said that in all his years I was the first person that said thank you for removing a leg. Now you may be wondering how this helped me. First of all I meant it because my other option was not an option. I was truly grateful to be alive.
Remember in Deana's article she wrote that if you can find ways to help others, it will come back to you ten-fold? Well my expression of gratitude was extremely impactful to my Surgeon. It made his day. I am sure he told many people in the Hospital about it, told his family and friends. An expression of gratitude is of great assistance to people in the Medical field.
This expression of gratitude led to being looked after extremely well. They would have looked after me well either way but I know that I was put in the Rehabilitation unit of my choice because of it, I know that the little extra deserts from time to time were because of it, and I know that I felt better because of it.
A choice of Gratitude instead of a choice of why always me led to the Law of Attraction bringing me nothing but great results, many new friends and great care.
Excercise your Servant Heart - help someone for no reason - make someone smile - express some gratitude when someone opens a door for you. You will be absolutely amazed at how quickly you will feel better and how quickly you will consider your luck to have changed for the better.
