Organization is the cornerstone to success when you are involved in many many projects. Even typing that sentence I can hear Deana laughing when she reads it for the first time. Imagine, me, talking about organization. Up until a couple of weeks ago I probably would never have written such an outlandish statement. But here is a little story about Deana and I from a couple of weeks ago.
We were sitting and talking about our direction, our goals, aspirations and what we wanted to achieve. Here we are both working very demanding full time jobs, we are in the process of building a network marketing business that we are both very passionate about, we are putting a concerted effort into sharing our thoughts and stories on this blog and we are writing a book along the same lines. Talk about biting off more than we can chew!! Oh yeah, Deana goes to hot yoga, likes to paddle on 2 dragon boat teams and I attend 2 business networking groups and I have started going back to the gym.
So here we were trying to figure out how we were going to keep going at this pace and still have time for each other and our marriage. It almost didn't seem possible. Maybe we really had bitten off more than we could chew.
So down we sat with our calendar and our paper and pen. We allocated the fixed times, you know the times we could not control. These are the times that we put into other peoples businesses: our jobs. We set aside some scheduled business training time to listen to conference calls and changed "date night" from Friday night to Saturday night. That seemed to make more sense since we both worked on Saturday.
All of a sudden we realized that there was considerable time that we could allocate to writing and working our network marketing business. It is not that we had bitten off more than we could chew at all, just that we were working those tasks around our lives, instead of constructing our lives around the important tasks.
