I actually gave some very serious consideration to going to Hot Yoga with Deana. ((No, Seriously)). Fortunately, at the time, I was at home and I was able to take my prosthetic leg off, and lay down until I felt better!
When you use a prosthetic leg, balance and posture become a newly learned physical process. Over the last 10 months or so, I have, however discovered that it absolutely can be done. It is all in the mindset and how you approach it. In the early months, after the amputation, I fell many many times because of too much weight on the left side, overcompensate and then too much weight on the right side, up hill, down hill, too fast or too slow. As you can probably appreciate that learning process has been very very tough and I have ruined many pairs of pants over the year.
The reality is though that the real tough times in the process were in the beginning. Over time I learnt the stances, the processes, the thoughts and how to overcome the challenges. I leaned on the professionals a lot. Who knew that there were even professionals around to help people in my situation. The reason I am talking about learning physical balance is to point out the fact that it can be done and there are people that have done it before me, after me and better than I have.
Leads me to believe that our attitudinal and mindset balance is able to be re-learnt as well. There is not even an amputation required, no physical pain to endure, but we may have to work through some residual phantom twinges both mentally and emotionally.
As Deana points out, with an open mind, a willingness to learn and a desire for different results we can create and achieve anything that we believe. Whatever you can visualize for yourself, someone has probably achieved it. Align yourself with positive associations, seek out wisdom and stop listening to the negativity going on around you. you will quickly notice a shift in your thought processes and mindset.
As a point of interest -- the "shut up, stop whining and get a life" on my prosthetic leg is a t-shirt that I got from Larry Winget " http://www.larrywinget.com/ ". Check out his site.
