Perry on Commitment versus Fear

I did go on that trip, but not in spite of my fear of heights. I went on that trip to watch and witness the fun and excitement that I knew Deana and Courtney were going to have. They probably would never have gone had I not went with them. Nothing warms my heart more than knowing that the people I love the most are having fun. Combine that with an absolute knowing that the staff at Canada's Wonderland were never going to let me on those rides.
Having said that I did participate in one, just to say that I did. It was the Pirate Ship. Courtney and I sat in the back of a big Pirate Ship that simply went forwards and backwards for a couple of minutes which occasionally gave that feeling in your stomach that you get when you drive too fast down over a hill. You know the one, where you feel like your stomach stayed up top and fell when you reached the bottom. Yup I paid for that. It was however worth every dime because it was with my daughter and I knew Deana was waiting for us when we got off.

I knew that the other rides were out of the question, especially when I was riding around in my wheel chair with my prosthetic leg exposed. I never even had to tell anyone that I had a heart condition, even though I was prepared to if it came down to it.

We have called this commitment versus fear yet I believe that once we make a commitment, and we truly have the burning desire to accomplish that end result, we can use our fear to our advantage. I believe it was Zig Ziglar that originally used the acronym of False Evidence Appearing Real for the word fear. Now I am not one to criticize or say that a world renowned trainer such as Mr. Ziglar is off base but I believe that in order to really use our Fear to our advantage we have to consider it a little differently. That is why I use the acronym of Focused Energy Achieves Results.

If you are truly committed to someone, something or an accomplishment put real Focused Energy into it and you will achieve the desired Result!
